My Top 10 Wedding “Pins”

I am linking up this week for the first time with the fantastic Monday Listicles. The theme for this week is anything wedding. Given that it has been 13 years since I walked down the aisle, I had to wrack my brain a bit to think of what I wanted to share about weddings.

Then it hit me.

Pinterest. After all, I spend more than a few hours at a time there these days having fantasies about clothes I will never wear, a home I will never live in and food that I will never get to eat (mostly, because no one will ever make it for me). Why not browse around and see what they have in the way of weddings? Let me tell you all, if I could live July 17, 1999 all over again, I would totally use some of these ideas to make my day a little more magical!

1. How totally adorable is this idea? It would certainly make the trips to the bathroom much more fun for the guests!

2. If I had known about this idea I would have totally gotten this as a gift for Robert. It would have been so much better than skis.

3. We had place cards, but this would have been so much better. And far more meaningful.

4. This is totally genius and such a fun idea. Unless, of course, they request a bad song.

5. This is so much more original than just calling your friends on the phone like I did. Even more depressing is that this would have been the time in my life when I had the time and energy for this sort of creativity. Sorry girls!

6. I am all about advice. I love tips. There is nothing that would make me happier than to have had something like this to look at every year.

7. I love being cozy. I love pajamas. I could have given Robert the cufflinks, and he totally could have given me these!

8. Another great suggestion for guests. It is indicated for a shower idea, but I actually think you could do it at the wedding, too. A lifetime of date night ideas!

9. Not only is this totally crafty and adorable, thus making your guests think you are amazing, but it also serves as a great storage place for all your sentimental messages.

10. We gave champagne for our wedding favors. I feel like this would have been so much better.

What are your favorite wedding ideas? If you had your special day to do all over again, what would you do differently? What is your favorite wedding gift to give?

  1. Awww, I like how you highlighted the “pros” of Pinterest. We took the dark side. lol. I have to say, though, that I love that cards idea in the suitcase. Gonna pin it. (Please don’t tell Pinterest that I called her Pintershit. We were just having a tiff.) Ellen

    • Your secret is safe with me! πŸ˜‰ I do agree that we rock for taking on both sides of the Pinterest craze. Fair and balanced right here baby!

    • Am totally off to check it out right now! I want to go to a dream wedding location, even if there is no wedding! πŸ˜‰

  2. I loved all of those ideas, but I wouldn’t have changed a thing about your wedding day! It was as perfect of a wedding day as you and Robert are for each other… now don’t get me wrong… I will be filing these wonderful ideas away in my head for 20+ years from now when Katie will be allowed to marry! πŸ˜‰

on a side note.. is it funny that I only thought of Katie and not by boys??? hmmm, might have to ponder that one!

    • You are SO SWEET! πŸ™‚ Thank you!
Laughing out loud at the fact that you are filing away the ideas for Katie but not the boys….maybe it is just because you know the boys will let their future wives run the show anyway?! πŸ˜‰

  3. The song on the RSVP is a GREAT GREAT GREAT idea!!!

I also love at the bottom of the BRIDESMAID sign when she asks for help with her dress when she will need to pee … so true of the Bridesmaid responsibilities.

  4. My first Listicles post, too! Absolutely love the card suitcase (ours are still in a box) and the leave a message in the book. Our guest book got misplaced, located, and then virtually ignored so we have none of that cool stuff. But we’ve had a blast of a marriage! πŸ™‚

    • Off to check out your list right now! πŸ™‚
Our cards are still in a box, too, but now I want to make the card suitcase!

  5. First of all, I could get on your blog again!!!!! Yay!!!! Okay, as for the post, LOVE these ideas. I love the bridesmaid one and the note for family and friends at their seat. If I had it to do over again, it would be on a beach somewhere (since my dad won’t get on an airplane, it wasn’t even a consideration) and since we are fantasizing, if it was on a beach, I’d be rich enough to treat everyone I really wanted to be there that couldn’t afford it. πŸ™‚

    • YAY! You are back on the blog! πŸ™‚ Thank God! It has definitely not been the same without you!
Let me know when you do your fantasy wedding all over again, and you can totally treat me to come! πŸ˜‰

  6. My sister was just married the end of August, and #6 made it’s way as her table numbers. She’s collected 26 books of well wishes for her first to twenty-sixth wedding anniversary. Being the kick ass matron of honor and the only one with decent handwriting, I was the one who labeled them all!

    • I love it! πŸ™‚ I bet those will be treasure for her whole life. And how fun for you to get to label them all! πŸ˜‰

  7. This is interesting, I figured you would say your wedding was pretty near perfect & you wouldn’t have changed anything. Good column.
By the way, John is gone all week so no comments from him.

    • I loved my wedding, and I honestly wouldn’t change anything, but I might add some more stuff! πŸ™‚
Thanks for telling me about John…glad to know he is MIA for a good reason! πŸ˜‰

  8. I’m divorced — but I def plan on meeting a great man soon and getting married sometime… πŸ™‚

I love these ideas! So fresh…so different than the typical wedding ho-hum.

I’ve often thought about “toasting” or “thanking out loud” all my family and friends during the ceremony… in essence…honoring them by reading something thoughtful and well meaning. Weddings are about celebrating love — in all forms. It would be a great surprise for the special people in your life.

    • I think you have FABULOUS ideas, and I have no doubt that when you find your special guy it will be a fantastic wedding! πŸ™‚

  9. Such GREAT ideas!!! It makes me want to get married all over again!!! Oh it would be soooo much better with all these different suggestions! Hmm…. perhaps again? Paleeeeze… maybe when we hit our 50th. πŸ˜‰

    • I wanted to plan another wedding now, too! I definitely told my hubby we should renew our vows and use these ideas! πŸ™‚

  10. I get married so often that I might ACTUALLY get to do it again! So I LIVE on pinterest! ….just kidding! two weddings doesn’t count as a lot, right? But I DO live on pinterest. The wedding stuff slays me… it’s the only time I’m envious of the 20 something girls, because they still have that to look forward to.

Weddings are THE BOMB now thanks to pinterest.

    • Ha, ha, ha! You make me laugh. I definitely think Liz Taylor set the bar on getting married so often, so I would say you are safe! πŸ˜‰
I agree with you totally about all the up and coming brides having awesome weddings thanks to Pinterest!

  11. holding dresses while someone pees… man the duties for a best man are really different. i know my best man didn’t hold my coat for me while taking I took care of business.
