It is no secret that cooking is not exactly in our wheelhouse.
But, as we learned with the great cookie exchange of 2012, it is possible to use the kitchen as something other than a storage facility for backpacks and naked Barbies.
We decided in 2013 to really challenge ourselves, and this is how we are going to do it.
And by really challenge ourselves in 2013, we mean in January.
For the next 3 weeks.
So, fabulous readers, prepare yourselves for our newest feature.
It is called Friday Feasts.
I mean, really, why else would our food board on Pinterest have more pins that any other board we have, unless we are meant to actually use them?
Here is the plan:
We will each choose a recipe from our Feed Me, Mom board and make it for our families. We will do this once a week for the entire remaining month of January.
And then we will post the results. Complete with photos. And suggestions. And whether or not a fire extinguisher was required during the cooking process.
Wish our families us luck!

Fabulous idea! I have been wanting to try a new recipe each week, too – although I haven’t actually done it, yet. Looking forward to seeing your picks!
Thanks Kim!
We are excited/scared/cautiously optimistic that this could be actually life-changing…and possibly even, dare we say it, fun?!
Awesome! Best of luck to you! Can’t wait to see the results!
FYI, baking soda, salt and/or flour also work on grease fires, just saying.
See, this is why we love our readers…because they provide us with honest to goodness, helpful advice! Duly noted on the grease fire remedies!
What can I say? I’m here to help!
LOL
Seriously, I think you all will do great! Hopefully you won’t need any grease fire remedies or any kind of fire remedies!
What a great idea! I’m looking forward to seeing your results! I judge my cooking to be a success if I don’t make the smoke detector in the kitchen go off.
We feel the same way Ginny Marie! Of course, if you don’t set it off every now and then how will you actually know it is working?!
Go for the crockpot meals.
Thanks Shell! Good tip!
Can you at least kill us with chocolate?
I think we are going to have some winners and cannot wait to read (and try) all about what you’ve cooked up!
Oh…chocolate will DEFINITELY have to be involved sooner or later!! No guarantee on the winners, though!!
Cooking is not my thing…there are so many other things I could be doing instead of making a mess of my kitchen! But, I do love to pin and blog about beautiful food. I’m looking forward to seeing your Friday Feasts and inspiration to actually do more than look at the pretty pictures.
We are better pinners than chefs ourselves, but we’re game to see how we do when we finally try some of the stuff we’ve stared at for so long!!
Great idea! Looking forward to the recipes AND the results!!
Don’t place TOO much stock in the results, Debbie…but we promise the recipes will all be complete and followed to the best of our (limited) abilities!
Hells yes! It’s fun. You’re gonna love it. And some weeks, hate it. :/
We are absolutely ready and open to love it completely and have our lives changed for good…but we fully expect to be on the hate train before the whole thing is over and back to the drive thru.
How fun!! Good luck and I look forward to hearing about loads of yummy recipes ahead!
Thanks, Andrea! You’ve posted some great recipes! We don’t know if we can live up to those standards (marshmallow fluff mallomars-like cookies!!), but we will do the best we can!
Just a suggestion, but you could ask your un-techie moms to share your favorite childhood recipe. You wouldn’t even need to get on Pinterest!
Hello, Cookie!! Commenting two days in a row!! Awesome!
Don’t tell anyone, but we just wanted an excuse to stay on Pinterest for hours on end. IT IS FOR THE BLOG you see and thus, totally legit! Otherwise we are just wasting time and neglecting our chores for no good reason. This way it’s a win-win! (except for the cooking part, of course)
This is an awesome idea! I should start making everything on my DIY board.
Now THAT is ambitious!!! (after seeing your awesome site, I can only imagine the fantastic things you must have pinned!!!)
Could they be under FIVE ingredients please? That’s my rule…
Oh, man…do people make things with more ingredients than that??!! Yikes!!
We could not agree more. We won’t be making it very often if we get writers cramp from our grocery list!!
Fun! A great way to actually USE all those recipes I post!
Did you know you can also Host a Pinterest Party where everyone makes a recipe they’ve pinned and the hostess picks and easy craft to make?
Great idea! I thought I’d post a lot more recipes than I do. Not sure what happened with that
Clearly, you need to go visit our board and see if there are any recipes that strike your fancy!
This is a GREAT idea! I’ve been really into finding and trying out new recipients as of late. I just wish I had a bigger kitchen to do all the cooking I want to do, lol. I can’t wait to see what comes from this!
We can’t wait either Felicia!
If it all goes well, maybe we will keep it up and make other people do it with us!
Love this idea! I’m determined to get into meal planning this year and it is saving us tons of money. This will enhance my planning! Good luck!
Thanks Lani! Honestly, the cost saving is definitely part of the motivation here for sure!
I love this! And I love your sense of humor!! I’m visiting from the SITS Sharefest. New follower!! Stacie xo
Thank you so much Stacie! Welcome!
Make yourself at home…we apologize in advance for the clutter and mess!
Great idea. I forget that I pin things. I loved your Cookie story. I’m trying to exercise so I won’t go back to leave a comment on that one. I thought I hit the right post to comment, but I got the recipe post which I read first. Whatever. I’m Cookie at 44.
Ha, ha, ha Leigh! Your whole comment made us laugh out loud!
I love this idea. I have found so many amazing recipes on Pinterest. It would take me years to make everything I already have pinned. Happy Sharefest Saturday!
Thank you Karin! We are excited and nervous about this experiment! We definitely have enough Pinterest recipes to make it last longer…but do we have the patience?!
this is a fan idea! I love Pinterest and recipes from there. Can’t wait to see what recipes you make! And I’ll plan on coming over for your Friday Feasts!
Please come join us! We will even save you leftovers!
It is exciting to think and plan what recipes our families might actually try!
Great post. Interesting topic. Found you from SITS today
Thanks, Vicki! Glad you came by!
Good luck, ladies! Most of the stuff I pin is way to ambitious so I just stick stuff in a crockpot.
We need a push to even do the crockpot recipes, Carli!! We’re getting there, though!!
Sounds fun! Go you guys for getting together a plan to make all those Pinterest plans a reality. Will look forward to hearing about it!
We’re good at plans, Meredith. It’s the follow-through that gets us! Keeping our fingers crossed!!
I cannot wait! I am totally riding your coat tails (Is that one or two words? It doesn’t look right either way.) on this one! Love the idea of putting my pins to work.
We’ve got to figure out a way for our Pinteresting to seem productive. Now we can say, “It’s for the BLOG!!”

Sounds like you’re going to be enjoying some good food this January! We have been trying some new Italian recipes as my 12 year-old daughter received the Silver Spoon cook book for children from her grandma for Christmas. She’s already made three of the recipes and I’ve made one. It’s been fantastic… and, what mom doesn’t like having a night off from cooking!

This is PURE GENIUS!!! I’m going to find that book. It sounds wonderful.
