You’re Going DOWN, Iceman!

It is no secret that we are a duo. A pair. A couple of girls just trying to make a go of this blogging thing!

Needless to say, the Monday Listicle topic really spoke to us this week, because it is all about how partners are awesome. Thank you Bonny Bard for inspiring us!

As usual, we decided to turn to Hollywood and You Tube for our inspiration.

So, without further ado…we are going to give you 10 Awesome Partners And Why We Are Just Like Them (including video proof).

#1 Cagney and Lacey
Y’all, we are totally like partners in crime. They were partners in *fighting* crime. Plus, let’s be honest here, we pretty much still dress like them.

#2 George and Jerry
George has dreams…big dreams. He wants to manage the Mets while Ashley dreams of sharing a publicist with Tori Spelling. Like Jerry, Lisa sometimes has to hand out gentle reminders that you usually don’t have to worry about the paparazzi unless you are actually, you know…famous. They are not delusional! Not that there’s anything wrong with that!

#3 Captain and Tennille
If you saw our childhood photos, you know Ashley had a slightly more masculine version of The Captain’s haircut in the 70s. Lisa would happily sing in public sporting marabou enhanced sleeves even to this day. But the similarities don’t stop there. We work together in perfect harmony just like they do! (But with 100% less maritime hats).

#4 Meredith and Cristina
No, it’s not just because they are both in medicine like us. It’s not just because we want their hair, either (but we totally do). It’s because they are each other’s person. Simple as that. At the end of the day, we feel the same way. And it is nice to find your person.

#5 Bert and Ernie
Ashley does not enjoy eyebrow grooming in any of its forms. She’s working her way to a fairly decent unibrow as you read this. Just like Ernie, Lisa has serious problems with telephones and making them stop ringing. Plus, her laugh is really loud and weird like Ernie’s. Once she told her son she thought a movie was amusing, he replied, “No kidding. The entire theater knew you thought it was funny.” Just like Bert, Ashley puts up with it and soldiers on.

#6 Lucy and Ethel
Those crazy kids were always having adventures and getting into trouble. So, maybe our outings are a little tamer and only involve trips to Starbucks and Target, but we can relate to their high jinks. We work well together and look exactly like they do at the chocolate factory as we are juggling blogging… and social media… and commenting… and carpool….you get the picture.

#7 Laverne and Shirley
While neither of us rocks a sweater with our initial on it, we can totally relate to these two friends trying to make their dreams come true. We’re doing it our way, too! But we would never ride a bike without a helmet. We are not looking for head trauma.

#8 Goose and Maverick
So, we prefer ancient mini vans to flying fighter jets. We also don’t play shirtless volleyball while Kenny Loggins croons in the background (You’re welcome). We do have each other’s backs no matter what. And we could totally take Iceman. It wouldn’t even be close.

#9 The Spartan Cheerleaders
Hey, we are totally full of spirit and pep (even if it’s not appreciated by others)!  We always come through with the perfect cheer for each other when needed. As an added bonus, Lisa was actually a cheerleader in high school, and Ashley was in the 5th grade chess club. The similarities to Craig and Arianna are getting creepy, right?!

#10 Thelma and Louise
We don’t really like road trips at all, and we don’t have a propensity toward crime. Even so, we are just like this pair! Oh, wait. Things didn’t really end well for them, did they? But heck, if we have to go, we want to go out in a blaze of glory…preferably with a young Brad Pitt.

Can you relate to any dynamic duos? Is your partner awesome, too? The Sonny to your Cher? The Starsky to your Hutch? The Hall to your Oates? Let us know in the comments.

      • I like what JDaniel4’s Mom said! You (or at least your online presence) has a lot of the great traits of each of the duos, plus the connection to each other, without having the setbacks that many, many of them have. Like..Thelma and Louise driving off a cliff..and Meredith and Cristina..just..having Meredith and Cristina issues.

  1. I don’t know guys. I love that you are each other’s rocks like that. Actually makes me a little teary just wondering why I have no Oates with my Hall. Because I am sorry, I would totally get to be Hall. I never cared much for Oates. Which, now brings me to the bigger question – how do you guys decide who will be the cooler/cuter one of the duo? Because if anybody made me Oates, I can’t go for that. No can do.

    • Hahahaha! You just made me (sarah) smile!!

You’d think we would tussle over who has to be the cuter/weirder one…but we don’t! It’s usually pretty obvious for whatever reason. (More than likely if we did disagree, we’d probably both think we were the weird one, though.)

  2. I know three of these. George and Jerry, Bert and Ernie, and Meredith and Christina. I think you girls are just as awesome as these partners, if not better 😀
I love coming here and checking out your posts ♥♥

  3. A great list of couples! I love how Meredith and Christina call each other their person. Aw man… I knew I shouldn’t have listened to Shop Around! Now I’ll have it stuck in my head all night!!

  4. These are great although, I’m pretty sure George wanted to manage the Yankees (slight Yankee–not Seinfeld–superfan lol) I love Christina and MER! They are my favorite female duo on television. Great and super creative list!

  5. Great twist on the list! My partner is the Sam to my Diane, the David to my Maddie, the Cliff to my Clair, the Kevin to my Winnie – we’re just not as funny.

  6. Oh I was sooo hoping you got Laverne and Shirley in there, those girls had serious moxy. Nothing could get in there way NOT EVER? Remember the one with the drug dealing motorcycle riders? Nothing. They did it there way, and made their dreams come true. You girls rock it!

  7. I am dying with the Spartan Cheerleaders! They were hilarious! And I gotta say…you guys are pretty hilarious yourself. This post made me a little sad since I feel like I’ve lost “my person”. Well my girl person anyway. Leo could fit the bill for some of these but that isn’t nearly as much fun. 🙂

  8. Loved the way you did this. I for sure can relate. I love me some Meridith and Christina. I have a person as well and I adore her…all though now that she has a baby, it’s hard to get to my person when I need her, lol.

    • Babies definitely complicate things, don’t they!? 😉 So glad you enjoyed this…we had fun doing it! 🙂

  9. I did not expect you guys to go this way with this-so funny!! I was imagining a funny take on you both talking about your husbands.

Do you never get peeved at eachother!? Now I’m curious!

    • Ha ha ha Robin! We definitely considered going that route! 😉
Honestly, we really don’t…and I think I can speak for both of us when I say that if we are ever tired or hormonal, the other knows it and nothing that is said in a “tone” is taken personally! 😉

  10. Some phenomenal duos you listed!!! All unique and applicable in their own ways. Lovigit!!! I might have to add Tom and Jerry if it were my list. 😀

  11. That was a great way to do the list. So funny!
My best friend moved away 4 years ago, but we were very much a Kate and Allie, helping each other raise our kids.

  12. Awww I loved Cagney and Lacey. Now I am going to have to see if they are on Hulu or Netflix. You made me laugh pointing out Ashley’s haircut. I also wonder if I am the only one that says Ernie first. I’ve always said Ernie and Bert in that order. If I don’t it comes out Bernie and Ert.

    • Oh Lord, Kenya we have been laughing about your comment all day…and totally trying to trip each other up saying Ernie and Bert and Bert and Ernie! Love it! 🙂

  13. You girls crack me up! 🙂 It’s so awesome that you have each other. Friendships like yours are rare. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I was more than happy to feature the post you shared about your girls. It was perfect! Oh, and we’re even now since you made me tear up with that post; it was only fair that I make you tear up with mine! 😀

    Have a great week, ladies!

  14. I laugh so loud when I come here that my stomach hurts. (which by the way, I got your book this weekend – yes YOUR book – and even though you won’t give your husbands medical advice – if you have any advice on my stomach, I’d appreciate it 🙂

I love you that you are each other’s person. And that eminates from every corner of your blog. It’s a totally awesome and fun place to visit every time.

    • First of all, thank you for getting and reading our book! 😉 You rock! Secondly, we recommend a daily dose of reality for all that ails you! 😉 Seriously, though, we just have to tell you that this comment made our whole day…we totally read it together over the phone and SQUEED! 🙂

  15. Oh wow…that’s an incredibly fun list to read….and you brought back all sorts of cool TV show memories. I used to LOVE watch Cagney & Lacey!

  16. Oh this is ADORABLE AND AWESOME!!!! You two are the BEST pair in the WORLD!!!! Any time I read your posts or am in touch with you in any way… it literally makes me SMILE. Every. Single. Time. 🙂

  17. That was fun! Except for having to listen to Tenille sing. That is one of my favorite Seinfeld episodes, The Cheerleaders were great also.

    • HA HA HA!! Your comment made us laugh! And I am saddened by the fact that you did not refer to the “Not that there is anything wrong with that” line! 😉

  18. Scrolling through your list, I was getting kind of nervous because I didn’t see any pairs I recognize and then…I saw my beloved #5 and #6! I LOVE Bert and Ernie and STILL laugh at them when I watch Sesame Street with the kids! And Lucy and Ethel are just the epitome of crazy duos! Cute post!

    • Lucy and Ethel were just the greatest pair ever! 🙂 And Bert and Ernie are fantastic, too! So glad you found some you knew! 😉

  19. Things I still listen to: Captain and Tennille
Things I still watch: Laverne and Shirley

I’ve been told that the 70s are over but I think it’s a lie. Have you been shopping lately? Everything at Goodwill is from then.

I so don’t remember Brad Pitt being in T & L. Now I’m gonna need to watch that again.

    • Best comment of the day. This is hilarious! How can you not remember Brad Pitt??? He was the HOT hitchhiker! You must rewatch and report back! 🙂

  20. My old boss from when I worked at a smoothie shop used to say me and my best friend (that also worked there with me) reminded her of Heckle and Jeckle. We used to get so many tips because we were always having so much fun that we put everyone in good moods! It was the best!

    • Just click on the share button at the bottom of the post! 🙂 Thank you so much Kate! Glad you enjoyed it!

  21. Loved this post – have to stop reading these at work! Loved seeing the Twin Towers (now THAT was a great duo) in the opening of Cagney and Lacey. Seinfeld is always a hit – and Ash, we have actually walked down the red carpet to stardom (well, in our minds it was stardom!) – the crowd was wondering who the heck we were and why didn’t they recognize us! I had my person – my Da – but she left too soon – but now I really have my person in Saba! (Reminded me, too, that I am 4 episodes behind on Grey’s!) Loved the Cheerleaders! So funny! Lucy and Ethel are the greatest duo of all time in my book. Two editions to the list: (one real and one not real) – Tom and Rita, and Forrest and Jenny – both for your mom because I know she would have thought of these! Great post, ladies!!

    • Love Tom and Rita! 🙂 And Forrest and Jenny is so sweet…I still remember how well Austin could do that impression! Great comment…LOVED it! 🙂

  22. This was such a great post. I pretty much recognized all your duos. It awesome that you ladies have such a wonderful business relationship and friendship. Those videos totally gave me a glimpse of the type of relationship you have and it’s beautiful.

  23. I love this post! It’s got BFFs written all over it! It’s so nice to see how there are still true friendships going on in the world today. 🙂

  24. Totally hear you on Meredith and Cristina. I love their relationship. And the Spartans, haha! I am a huge SNL geek. I also love, Love, LOVE Franklin & Bash – have you seen them yet? They are the ultimate pair. 🙂
