Dear Chevy, Thanks A Lot!

Sometimes when one of us sees something that the other just has to see, we share it over email. Even when we know it will be mean and make them sad. Misery loves company, y’all.

So, the other day when I watched this Chevy commercial, I immediately emailed the link to Lisa. And warned her over the phone. Strongly warned. Because I care. Obviously.

Ashley: I apologize in advance for the copious amount of sobbing. I would NOT recommend watching this with anyone around. But if I have to suffer, you have to suffer.

This is what I got in return.

Lisa: OH FFS!!!! You warned me, but OH MY GOD. I am a puddle of tears just sobbing…and I can’t stop. And now Daisy is all, “Thanks a lot Chevy. I won’t get her off me all day now. That’s just what I needed”. And now my sobbing has started anew.

Since we are such givers over here at The Dose of Reality, we decided immediately that we should share it with our Dose Peeps, too. You’re welcome.

  1. Yeah, that got me right in the feels as well. Even my ex, who hated cats in the beginning, broke down sobbing over the phone when our Bainbridge was found lifeless one morning. Cats and dogs are family, not objects.

  2. I can’t let my kids see this or they will demand a dog and I will totally give in because I selfishly want one too!!
I really prefer that you ladies make me LAUGH this early in the morning!!! 🙂

  3. Wit Allie on this and can’t let my kids nor my husband see this either, because they would so want a dog right now, but yes you got me tearing up at not even 7:30 in the morning. Thanks ladies and still love you though 🙂

  4. It is a sweet commercial for sure. Makes you go, “Aww!” and reach for your pet and remember your own journey yourself with pets. Evil it is in the tear department! Thanks for sharing, though!

  5. OH MY GAWD what is the point of that?!?! How does that make me want to buy a Chevy? It makes me want to hug a dog! Is that their point? Or are they teaming up with Kleenex and Visine for a trifecta of sales? Get a new car, a runny nose, and red puffy eyes all in one swoop.

Pardon me, while I go outside to kick my Chevy for making me cry!

*sniffle* If you need me I’ll be over here hugging my dog and sobbing softly.

  6. I think I may be jaded…or maybe it’s because I’m at work and watched it with the sound off, but I didn’t get any waterworks. I’m going to watch it again when I get home and see if I get a different result. Though I may just be jaded because I didn’t cry at Me Before You either.

  7. Yep – should have waited until I was home to watch this. Losing a pet is one of the saddest things ever – but I do like remembering how they made us feel when they were alive – mostly happy, sometimes exasperated, but always special. Good commercial!

  8. Weeping all over the keys here. It’s Oscar – our late Golden. Who one second was frolicking in the park, the next doubled over in pain. He was gone by the end of the day. Ouch.

  9. I had seen this one before and yes it is a rough one to watch. But since I had already saw it, I focused on the meme with the girl with tears shooting out of her face and I’m dying!!!! That is one of the funniest gifs I’ve seen in a long time. I watched it about 10 times because it just gets funnier each time. OK, now continue with the sobbing.

  10. Now I’m all teary eyed thinking of all the dogs my family has had over the years. And you’ve also just solidified our decision to NOT get a puppy for several years.

  11. Sorry, but I’m not a hugely sentimental person so nothing. I am confused though, am I supposed to want a dog or the car. I really think they want me to get a dog.

  12. We are sorry y’all. Honestly, we know it was mean to make everyone cry. But why should we be the only ones with tear-stained faces? That wouldn’t seem right.

  13. I really love your blog and think you two are super funny but I flat out refuse to watch that video. If you need me, I will be over —> here with my eyes closed, fingers in my ears and all “lalalalala I can’t hear you”.

  14. Aww that is a great commercial. Really sweet! Did the family have the same chevy the whole time, was that the point? Or was it that dogs will love you your whole life? I’m not gonna worry too much about that, either way.
